Notes from the Road Trip
Posted Tuesday, December 27th, 2005 by nycgadgetgirlSo, T and I are home from Indy. Until this week, it had been a LONG time since I’ve spent time away from the city, so I took a few notes:
- Left hand turns are inefficient, annoying, and dangerous.
- Women and girls outside NYC wear WAY too much makeup.
- Cab drivers are really excellent drivers compared to the majority of drivers on our interstate highways.
- Snickers is a great travel companion.
- Driving is a lot like riding a bicycle in that you never forget how to do it. Whenever I rent a car, I think that so many years living in the city will have somehow cancelled out all the years I spent glued into a car, but it just doesn’t happen.
- The non-metropolitan areas of our country seem to mostly be ugly clumps of strip centers, convenience stores, malls and build-by-number homes.
- Snow stays white and pretty till it melts out there where people don’t walk (and do other stuff) on it!
