Alpacas and Yurts Could Go Together

Posted Tuesday, February 7th, 2006 by nycgadgetgirl

OK, so my sister thinks we should buy Alpacas to roam around on the land she is buying (where I am fantasizing about building a yurt). How cute are these things???

The other night she pasted the following into IM from the site she was reading:

  • Alpacas are never bathed, and they still have no odor. Alpacas dung doesn’t even have an odor.

This seemed too good to be true, but THEN she said:

  • They also tend to all poop in the same spot in the pasture/paddock, making it easy to clean up after them.

And followed that up with another copy/paste:

  • Alpacas are not aggressive animals, they are easy to raise, very hardy and require minimal shelter. They are earth friendly animals with clean habits and a wonderful natural curiosity. Alpacas make a variety of sounds such as clicks and snorts but are best known and loved for their humming.

Add all that to the fact that she told me a week or so ago that they have soft padded feet (instead of hooves) and I have a hard time believing these animals are REAL.

So, if I eventually live in a yurt, maybe I’ll get an Alpaca. hee hee

I was entertained by the one Alpaca owner who commented that “Alpacas are a stress-free investment that you can hug.”
