A fellow New York dog owner, Amanda Soto (and her dog Butch, of course), started a group on Dogster recently called "NYC - Let me get on that train!" It did not take long for that group to start growing!

Long story short, discussion was had and then Amanda did a lot of work to put together a great petition to the MTA. It asks for the right for leashed dogs to be allowed on the subway and suggests ways to make sure the dogs are not a nusiance, such as only allowing dogs that have passed the Canine Good Citizen test. She even talked with the AKC and got permission to use their CGC info/language in the petition!

So, huge props to Amanda (and Butch for inspiring her). Also, if you are in NYC, make copies of this petition and start spreading it around. Get signatures. Send them to the MTA. Let’s make big waves. Snickers says "Let me on that train!"
