My Brain is Turning to Mush
Posted Tuesday, August 8th, 2006 by nycgadgetgirlSeriously… I don’t know what’s happening with me, but I’m apparently getting stoopider as time goes by. Examples:
- I lose words with alarming regularity these days. I’ll be in mid-conversation with someone and just LOSE the word I need to finish my thought. Sometimes I have to resort to a thesaurus to get my thoughts back on track.
- I forget things CONSTANTLY. Until recently, I simply blamed this on having become increasingly dependent on my computer to remember things for me, but it’s getting where I feel like I’m disconnected from my brain if I can’t reach Google and Google Desktop.
- Last, but not least, I took one of those online IQ test thingies a few days ago and it reported my IQ as about 25 points lower* than it should have. Not that those things are completely accurate, but a few years ago I could take those play tests and get every single question right. I didn’t even finish this one within the time limit!
*Still above average, thank you, but definitely unacceptable.

That happens to me all the time, too. I blame it on having teenage children.
And, um, yeah. I swear, I used to be intelligent.
