Snickers’ Diet - Post #3
Posted Thursday, August 17th, 2006 by nycgadgetgirlI just realized that Snick’s diet has changed again since I last posted it, so I thought I’d post an update. (I’m amazed at how many people come to my blog after googling “what to feed a Shiba Inu.”)
For the history of how we got here and some general things I learned, see this post. Here is the current recipe:
- Put 1 3/4 cups of water on high heat.
- Add 5 scoops of Dr. Harvey’s Canine Health while waiting for water to boil.
- Bring to boil then lower heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring to avoid burning.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Add the following:
- 6 to 8 ozs of protein (usually tuna, sometimes salmon)
- 3 tsp of oil (canola, black currant, safflower, borage, hemp or soy)
- Mix well and put into storage container.
- Spread 1 cup of Wellness Simple Food Solutions Duck Formula* across top.
- Sprinkle 1 oz of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Seal and refrigerate.
Serving Instructions for Snickers? Food
- Do not feed warm. (Always cook it with time to refrigerate before feeding.)
- Snick eats twice a day. Approx 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
- This is 6 days worth of food, so use about 1/12 of the total amount per meal
- Immediately before feeding, add the following:
- with breakfast:1/2 teaspoon of Prozyme enzymes
with dinner: 1/2 the contents of a probiotic capsule - 1/2 teaspoon of Quaker Quick Oats (100% Natural Oats)
- 2 squirts of Grizzly Salmon Oil
- with breakfast:1/2 teaspoon of Prozyme enzymes
*I just bought Wellness Weight Management Super Mix instead, but by the time it arrived and I opened it, he really didn’t need it. He’s slim and trim and looking good!
