Snippets and Tidbits
Posted Thursday, August 24th, 2006 by nycgadgetgirl- I’m porting the blog to WordPress and redesigning the templates sometime in the next couple months. Fun fun.
- I received some photos last week from a high school reunion that was held this summer. (I’ve never made it home for one.) I’m sad to say I only managed to recognize 4 people out of about 40.
- WATER, IT DOES THE BODY GOOD!
- Snickers is scheduled to take his AKC Canine Good Citizen test on October 24. We have some work to do between now and then.
- Did someone shorten the days to less than 1,440 minutes each and not tell me about it? Lately, I can’t seem to keep up with everything that has to get done in one day.
- A neighborhood friend gave Benedict some dog food for Kaos a couple days ago.
- Why do tourists insist on trying to flag down cabs that are occupied???
- ~T~ is getting a Sidekick. She’s paying for it herself from savings. WOW!

Wait wait wait… you mean Snick actually LISTENS to you and doesn’t do the purposely disobedient “I know what you’re saying but I don’t want to do it” act?
I’m so jealous.

Oh no, he DOES that. Don’t be jealous. But if I get him all excited about earning treats, he puts on a grand performance. I think - even though treats aren’t allowed during the test - that I can get him through it and then jackpot the treats at the end.
I’m trying to just think of this test as a diagnostic so I know what we need to work on for the next one. I don’t expect him to pass it the first time. I’m afraid he won’t stay calm during the “being left with a friendly stranger” part. Three MINUTES? Yeah. Right. NOT.

Wow, Shibas are a complicated lot.
Sumi loves people, and I think she would do ok to stay with a friendly stranger. But she’s hit and miss on following the commands thing. Sometimes I can get her to 47 things without any reward other than verbal praise. Other times… well, I might as well get the entire block of cheese and try again!
