Well, I have someone 500 miles from Miami that will hold Kaos for a week and a group of transport folks that will coordinate moving her up there. I even have someone in Miami that will go get her out of the shelter. HOWEVER, the transport can’t happen for a couple weeks and the person that can pull her from the shelter has nowhere to TAKE her in the meantime. I called the shelter this morning and they’re going to make some phone calls to see if any of their contacts will board her for a reasonable cost. At this point, I just need someone in the Miami area to keep her for a couple weeks. Miami is a big place… why is this so difficult? Well, from what I’ve learned there is a serious overcrowding problem there. There are no spay/neuter laws and all the no kill shelters are fully loaded with animals. I can’t send her anywhere that isn’t no kill because as a medium to large mixed breed she wouldn’t be considered “adoptable” and wouldn’t be held long.
