Things I Will NOT Miss About NYC

Posted Sunday, July 13th, 2008 by nycgadgetgirl
  • Men peeing in public
  • The smell of subway station stairways on a hot, summer day
  • Movie sets. Freaking movie people filming “on location” and getting in the way of real life
  • Getting parking tickets outside my apartment whenever I rent a car
  • Noise, noise, and more noise. Construction noise. 18-wheel truck noise.
  • Making sure Snick dodges vomit on the sidewalk during our late night weekend walks
  • Salt and slush everywhere when it snows
  • The difficulty of traveling locally with Snickers
  • Tourists!!!

Like before, that’s just off the top of my head. :)

I did a little lookie at Indianapolis stats. You’ll probably enjoy the cost of living a lot- it seems that things are much cheaper there. Being still in a ‘burb, you’ll probably have some salt when it snows, but not the amount that NYC would have. It’s going to be so much quieter. But it might be replaced by nature noises– peeping tree frogs and song birds. Anyway, I can’t wait for blog entries about your move and what you think about everything!!

Even if they salt the roads, it won’t matter because we won’t be forced to walk on them. In NYC, there is NO escape from the TONS of rock salt that gets spread on everything. It burns poor doggie feet but there is no way to walk without encountering it. In Indy, we will have a HUGE fenced yard full of fresh snow for doggies to play in!!! Wheeeeee!

You may miss 24 hour stores, street performers, breakdancers, and the overall feeling that NYC has its own god/religion/pulse…

And I know I’ll miss seeing you now and then and Snickers greeting me and then when he’s done with me… walking away and laying down. ;)
kathys last blog post was A typical day

I will definitely miss all those things. <sigh>

Snick wouldn’t want you to know it, cz he’s such a man about his feelings, but we’ll both miss you too.
