Resume’ of Jenna Gates
Management Experience
In my most recent position, I was responsible for all administrative services, facilities, marketing materials, telecom and information technology for a boutique M&A advisory investment bank in midtown Manhattan. I reported directly to the CEO and managed employees, vendors, and the expectations of my internal clients.
Previously, I was an IT Project Manager at a global financial services firm, where I managed internal and external teams responsible for integrating packaged software and developing custom applications on a per project basis. During this time, I was also the liaison between the IT and Corporate Communications groups.
Prior to that, I was the Administrative Manager of a 40 employee manufacturing company, where I managed all administrative services and related employees.
I also founded an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization consisting of 40+ active volunteers working to rescue, foster and rehome purebred and mixed Shiba Inu dogs in NY, NJ, PA, and CT, which I managed for 16 months before moving to Indiana.
Web Development Experience
I started learning about web development - purely for fun - back in 1997. I soon leveraged my knack for organizing content and designing user interfaces into a jump from the investment banking publishing group to the IT department. There, I became the "user interface" for the Internet Services group and worked closely with users to write functional requirements for websites and web-based applications. I coordinated the efforts of the development and infrastructure team responsible for internal and external corporate websites.
From there, I moved to the project management team, but I continued planning and implementing websites for freelance clients whenever I had time. I’m not a hardcore developer; I hand write HTML and CSS and have a basic working knowledge of PHP and MySQL. I use my information architecture and navigation design experience to plan websites for my clients that make sense and will help them accomplish their goals.
Other Technical Experience
I learned the majority of my networking and desktop support skills on the job. In my last position, I was responsible for all desktop PCs, laptops, printers, storage servers, handheld devices, software, systems, office equipment and telecom equipment. I learned a lot by evaluating the needs of the firm, researching possible solutions and then purchasing, implementing and maintaining the chosen solutions.
The majority of my recent experience is with Windows XP Pro, Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007, HP and Ricoh networked printers, Windows Storage Server 2003, Dell PowerEdge Servers, SNAP network attached storage appliances, Netgear switches, and SonicWall firewalls and VPNs.
